The North Trent Critical Care Network is a collaborative partnership between NHS Trust hospitals and Primary Care Trust commissioners who work together to jointly review, plan, commission and develop critical care services within the area. The focus of the network is general adult critical care. The North Trent area covers the whole of South Yorkshire and also includes North Derbyshire and Bassetlaw residents, with a population of 1.8 million.
PBR for Adult Critical Care
At a recent meeting of Network Managers Jean-Armand Clark from the Department of Health PBR team presented a paper on commissioning and contracting of adult and neonatal Critical Care services from 2011/12. The paper states that PBR 'may' be introduced for critical care from 2011 but with locally agreed pricing rather than a national tariff.
