Network Information
The North Trent Critical Care Network is a collaborative partnership between NHS Trust hospitals and Primary Care Trust commissioners who work together to jointly review, plan, commission and develop critical care services within the area. The North Trent area includes the whole of South Yorkshire and also includes North Derbyshire and Bassetlaw residents, covering a population of 1.8 million.
The NHS Trusts within the network are:
- Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
- Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
- Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust
- Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
The PCT commissioners within the network are:
The network links in with other relevant organisations including:
- Independent Sector Hospitals
- Thornbury and Claremont Hospitals have their own critical care facilities
- Yorkshire Ambulance Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service
- Yorkshire and the Humber Strategic Health Authority
- UK Transplant
The network has a central team consisting of:
- Phil Mettam, Chairman
- Joanne Poole, Network Co-ordinator
- Jeremy Groves, Clinical Co-ordinator
- Ken Inweregbu, Consultant Anaesthetist
The network has a steering group which acts as the decision making body on behalf of all the constituent network organisations. This group consists of:
- Chair of network
- Clinical coordinator and a nurse representative
- One commissioning representative from each PCT
- One lead clinician from each hospital critical care unit
- Critical care management representative from each Acute Trust
- Independent sector representative
- ISTC representative
